2009 Big Buck Contest Prizes Rules and Regulations
- All deer must have been harvested in the 2008-2009 deer season to qualify for the Old Dominion Class, the North American Class or the Youth Class.
- Any deer harvested prior to the 2008-2009 season will be entered into the Heritage Class. Any deer that has previously received an award in the heritage class can not be reentered for three years.
- Deer must be whitetail and have been harvested legally, and by fair chase.
- Deer must be accompanied by a valid check in tag or confirmation number.
- Heritage class deer will be on the honor system. No check tag required.
- There will be a $20 administrative fee for 16 year olds and older, and a $10 fee for 15 year olds and younger.
- Deer will be scored on the Boone & Crockett system by the Shenandoah Valley Buckmasters (note: these will not be official Boone & Crockett scores)
- Deer heads or antlers must be at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds between Friday February 20th (10 a.m. to 8 p.m.) and Saturday February 21st (10 a.m. to 12 p.m.).
- We reserve the right to refuse any entry.
- All deer entered in the contest will be displayed until the awards ceremony on Sunday February 22 at 4:00 pm. Any buck taken before the awards ceremony will forfeit all prizes and drawings. All participants will receive a pass to re-enter the show on Sunday to retrieve their buck. This includes parents/guardians for all youth entrants. In the event the number of deer received exceeds available space, we reserve the right to display select deer only.
- We reserve the right to modify these rules prior to the beginning of the big buck contest.
